ThimbleCare help

Income, expenses and tax exports

Use the web's Tax records area to organise the records you have entered in ThimbleCare. It is recordkeeping for you and your adviser, rather than tax advice or a live bank feed.

Check income

  1. Open Tax records and choose the relevant financial year or period.
  2. Read the date and basis of the displayed figures. Invoiced amounts and recorded payments describe different things.
  3. Compare the records with your issued invoices and payments received outside ThimbleCare.
  4. Correct an incorrect payment through the invoice's payment correction workflow. Keep the reason and history. See Invoices.

Keep expense records

  1. Open Expenses and choose the available action to add an expense.
  2. Enter the date, description, amount and requested category or tax details from the actual purchase.
  3. Attach the receipt where offered. Keep the original separately if needed.
  4. Review before saving, then reopen the saved expense to confirm the values and attachment.

Do not assume an expense is deductible just because it can be entered. Ask your tax adviser about GST, deductions and your obligations. The turnover view only reflects its stated period and recorded data.

Request an export

  1. Open the tax export option and check the financial year.
  2. Request the export once. Queued or Preparing means the file is still being created.
  3. Refresh the export record until its download is ready, or follow the failure message.
  4. Download the file and check its period and contents before sharing it with your adviser.

Keep downloaded financial files private. If the export has not appeared, check the existing request before creating another. A saved expense, an export request and a downloaded file each have their own result.
