Your plan and budget
This guide is for a participant. A budget in ThimbleCare helps you read recorded support costs and plan information. It is not a live balance from the NDIS or your bank.
Before you start
Have your plan's budget names, amounts and start and end dates ready. Check the values against your plan before saving.
See your budget
On the web, select My budget from Home. The page can show:
- Allocated at the start: the recorded amount.
- Committed: recorded booked support.
- Pending: support waiting to be checked.
- Approved: approved support not yet invoiced.
- Invoiced: support on invoices.
Read the explanations and any unavailable or incomplete-data message. A remaining amount only reflects the information in ThimbleCare; support outside the app may also use funding.
On the native phone app, open Money and budget from More. Home can also show recorded money left. Pull down to refresh.
Add your budget on the web
- Select Add my budget on Home or the budget page.
- Choose Community access, Help at home, Getting to places, or Something else. For Something else, enter the name from your plan.
- Select Next and enter Amount, Plan start and Plan end.
- Select Next and check every value.
- Select Save budget and wait for Budget added.
- Open See my budget to check the saved information.
You can add another budget later. Do not assume a budget is hidden from everyone else: access to plan information depends on the person's role and your permissions.
Add your plan goals without uploading a plan
- Open Plan → Your goals on the web, or Check your goals from Plan in the phone app.
- Copy one goal from your plan into Add a goal from your plan.
- Select Add goal and wait for the saved message. Repeat for your other goals.
- Use Edit goal to correct the wording, or Archive goal to stop offering it for future agreements.
You do not need to upload your plan, enter dates or add funding details to save a goal. Goals you add or confirm become available to your connected support workers after you accept their invitation. They choose the relevant goals and the agreement uses your exact wording. Adding a goal does not share your plan document.
Check the goals when you read an agreement before signing. Editing or archiving a goal does not rewrite an agreement that is already signed. A signed agreement changes only through a variation you both sign. Imported goals still need your confirmation before workers can choose them.
Uploaded plans and goals
If your worker uploads a plan, the app asks May ThimbleCare read this plan? before reading it. Choose Yes, read my plan or No, we will enter it ourselves. Uploading a file alone is not consent to read it.
Review the resulting dates, funding and goals. Goals are optional and should match your plan. These recorded dates and funded categories also help with agreement confirmations.
If something goes wrong
- Budget preview missing on a timesheet. The recorded budget may not match that support category. Ask the worker to check it. You can still read the timesheet, but a missing preview does not confirm enough funds.
- Save failed or was not confirmed. Reopen the budget before trying again so you can check whether the amount was saved.
- A recorded amount looks wrong. Use the edit path offered, or ask for help. Do not add another budget merely to hide a wrong value.
